IFD Corporation is a privately owned company with its head office
and manufacturing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. IFD Corporation has developed and
patented the Internal Fault Detector (IFD™) , a high value, low-cost, reliable
fault sensor that is used in oil-filled pole type distribution transformers.
The Internal Fault Detector (IFD™) provides a safer operating environment,
improves customer service for more productive power utility operations. IFD Corporation
manufactures the IFD for installation in new and re-furbished pole type transformers.
The IFD is the result of our commitment to improve safety, operations and customer
service for the electric utility industry. The IFD provides a simple message,
"See the signal, remove the transformer!".
The first IFD prototype was originally developed and patented in the early
to mid-1990's. In 1998, IFD Corporation was formed to develop a reliable low
cost version of the device that would be suitable for pole type distribution transformers.
After extensive research and development, IFD Corporation shipped the first
commercial IFD product in December 2001. Our team approach with innovative industry
partners has delivered an innovative, practical solution for the distribution
system of today's utilities.
